Dear Prime Minister
Mirfield, West Yorkshire
I am writing to draw your attention to the plight of Mirfield.
Mirfield residents are very seriously concerned about our town’s future, for the present and future generations, with regards to the ongoing and proposed housing developments. People do accept development must happen, but this needs be done at the right time and in the right areas. The infrastructure in Mirfield is ‘straining under the weight’ of an already well established population within and the surrounding areas. Mirfield’s highway infrastructure cannot cope with the existing volumes of traffic let alone any additional burden created – there are only three ways out of Mirfield, and at times the whole of Mirfield becomes static. Our schools have an unacceptable waiting lists and the doctor’s surgery is starting to show signs of a virtual breakdown in services. I have deliberately kept this letter concise, but please be assured that the above statements are true and not in any way misleading. Therefore, I urge you to please investigate the above and come to your own conclusion on this matter; the residents of Mirfield are asking you to use your powers to put a stop to the following:- Planning Application No: 2014/62/91282/E – Land off Woodward Court/Hepworth Lane, Mirfield Planning Application No: 2014/60/90688/E – Land at Slipper Lane, Mirfield Moor We have been led to believe that in 2017, Kirklees Metropolitan Council will deliver a local plan for the area – this will be more than welcomed by Mirfield. I will finish with – infrastructure before housing – time is running out!
Yours sincerely
Steven Benson
