After months of discussions with Mirfield town council, plans are now being put in place to form a Neighbourhood Development Plan for Mirfield.
A Neighbourhood Plan will be part of the statutory development plan for the area, if successful at referendum. This statutory status gives Neighbourhood Plans far more weight than some other local documents, such as parish plans, community plans and village design statements. Community groups or parish/town councils preparing plans have the opportunity to engage properly with the wider community right from the beginning of the plan preparation process, to make sure it genuinely represents the range of wants and needs in the local area.
